The Autonomous University of Hidalgo State (UAEH) is a prestigious institution that wants its curriculum to stay ahead and meet the needs of society. For this reason in the year 2007 raised the restructuring of curricula pertaining to this university.

The competency-based educational models were taken as a basis for structuring the redesign of all existing degrees. For this reason the Bachelor in Computer was replaced in the period January-June 2013 by the curriculum of the Bachelor of Computer Science from the first half of this generation.

This new educational model proposes innovative learning strategies to break the pattern of traditional learning. New strategies suggest the use of technological tools and educational newly established to facilitate the implementation of this model.

The materials used in the traditional model has not been updated in its entirety, making for these educational models either partially or completely obsolete. The strategies used by these application materials present problems for the teacher, since their techniques are not practical for this form of teaching.
One of the main problems in the teaching and learning process is the lack of interest by the student on the topics covered in class. The traditional educational resources do not encourage students to acquire new knowledge and motivation to promote research.

Virtual resources have made information more accessible to learning. The UAEH has a wide variety of online library resources, but those resources are not organized by or undergraduate academic areas. The centralization of them makes it difficult to search or query.
